    This painting is divided into two sections. The lower section symbolizes the earthly, physical Jerusalem with its traditional architecture. The upper section symbolizes the metaphysical, heavenly Jerusalem.

    The Hebrew word "Yichon" appears in this upper section. This word appears in the Bible only once, in the Book of Psalms (72:17), and is interpreted as a synonym for "Messiah".

    It is written that when the Messiah comes, he will enter through the gates of the metaphysical Jerusalem.
